Be Still My Soul
Hymns have always been used to direct one’s thoughts heavenward, toward reverence, joy, and peace. The melodies, or tunes, used with LDS and other Christian hymns, come from numerous sources including folk tunes from Europe, Scandinavia, and early America.
Be Still My Soul is a beautiful collection of hymn melodies performed on traditional acoustic instruments including guitar, fiddle, dulcimer, mandolin, and others. The style is reminiscent of what the hymns may have sounded like 150 years ago when America was a much younger country. The result is a warm, easy sound that will gladden the heart and bring peace to the soul.

A fellow missionary with me in Bolivia shared this music with me fourteen years ago. I loved it, but never found out who it was. Can’t believe I tracked it down all this time later.

This music brings peace to my soul like nothing I have found. It is gentle, peaceful and still … much like the still, small voice of God’s spirit. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talents. I am collecting all of your works.

I heard this album on my mission in Las Vegas back in 2002 and I loved it so much! I got the CD and still is one of my favorite albums.
